Family Camps

We often hear from parents, "I wish I could go to Ecology School!" Well, we have a program for you! Become a nature detective and explore the forest, beach, tide pools, & more with the children in your life! Join us as we travel throughout coastal Maine for a week of journeys and expeditions throughout Saco Bay or the Portland area, discovering tide pools, climbing mountains, canoeing through marshes, or riding a ferry out to the islands!

You and your crew are very special people for what you do. I can’t explain it but I can tell you that I have never been to a place where I feel like family within an hour of being there.

Family Camps FAQ

Do we have to sign up for the whole week?

No! Families are welcome to sign up for the whole week or just a day or two—whatever works for your schedule!

How do you define a "family" for family camp?

We are happy to have all kinds of families—as long as there is at least one adult and one kid! The camp is designed for adults and kids to explore and discover the outdoors together so it can really be any combination – grandparent and child, aunt and nephew, good family friend and kid, whatever works for you, works for us!

Where do family campers meet each day?

After registering, families will get detailed information about where to meet each day. Meeting spots are centrally located and easy to find.

What if someone in my family has a food allergy?

During our Family Day Camps, families are responsible for bringing their own snacks and lunches.

What should we wear?

Come dressed and ready to be outside for the day—layers are always a good idea as are comfortable shoes for walking and possible getting wet in. Wear sunscreen and bug spray, and it never hurts to throw a rain coat into your bag!
