Residential and EcosySTEM Programs Awarded $8,500 in Support

The Frances Hollis Brain Foundation Fund is a fund administered by the Maine Community Foundation which supports nonprofit organizations and projects that serve disadvantaged, underserved and/or vulnerable communities. The $5,000 in funding supports EcosySTEM, our innovative multi-year program that reached over 7,000 students in four Maine school systems in 2018. The four school systems include 13 schools and of these schools 9 are designated as Title 1 (public schools with the highest percentages of children from low-income families).

The People’s United Community Foundation awarded $3,500 to The Ecology School in support of both our Residential and EcosySTEM programs. By creating opportunities for young learners to follow their curiosities about the natural world around them, our programs not only promote environmental literacy, but also guide self-discovery, leadership, and social-emotional learning.
